I'm going to try firing up the blog again for 2016, especially the nature/landscape side of things. It is in desperate need of a redesign so I will be working on that while shooting for KSTV. Unfortunately the slideshows on older posts have been disabled by flickr. You can find all of my work in my gallery.

Northern Mockingbird Display

Sorry-no Photoshop Friday this week. I've been crazy busy with end of the school year activities, house stuff and t-ball and football tournaments. I have been shooting a little though, just no computer time. =(

This Northern Mockingbird likes to sit on our telephone wire and then leap into the air displaying his white wing patches.

According to Wikipedia:
"While singing on a high perch they will often bolt several feet into the air in a looping motion, with wings outstretched to display their white underside, then land back on the perch without breaking a note. This action serves as a territorial display."

I layered several photos into a collage for this one so you can see the different poses he made while I was watching.

Regina, this is so cool! I love the way you have combined the photos. It really showcases his acrobatics, the showoff!
