I'm going to try firing up the blog again for 2016, especially the nature/landscape side of things. It is in desperate need of a redesign so I will be working on that while shooting for KSTV. Unfortunately the slideshows on older posts have been disabled by flickr. You can find all of my work in my gallery.

They ran it!

My locust photo was published today in the Lexington Herald-Leader newspaper in the 1000 words column-In Touch page. =)

2Peas Featured Photo

One of the shots I posted for Macro Monday over on the 2Peas photo board was selected as the featured photo today. I just had to share. =)

Macro Monday

I thought we were ready for the house to go on the market, but the realtor suggested a new list of little projects to accomplish. It never ends. =) Here is a locust I found on my front steps. He had just emerged from his casing. The sunflower was taken at the Arboretum.

Summer color at the UK Arboretum

I stopped by the Arboretum to catch my breath for a minute and relax. I hope things settle down around here soon! The gardens are really starting to come alive with color. It was a little cool in the morning so many of the butterflies were hiding out. I managed to chase after a huge swallowtail for awhile.

Vacation Daydreaming

I have had the week from...well, you know where. It was topped off by a few nights at the hospital for my littlest one. =( We probably won't get to go on vacation this year because of the move, so I have been longing to visit the lake even more than usual. Here is the view taken from the van as we drive up to the lake house.

Here is the first view we get of the water as we approach the lake. The kids always get so excited.

Happy 4th of July!

We weren't at home, so no pics. of the downtown display. I managed to get a couple of hand-held shots from some fireworks set off by some of my father-in-law's Stonewall neighbors. =) I hope you had a wonderful 4th of July!

Winged Creatures

I stopped by the Lexington Cemetery yesterday for a short visit to let the kids feed the ducks. The summer flower garden is not filled out yet, so I chased around a few winged creatures. =)

I have never seen so many different types of dragonflies in one place. I know I saw at least 4 different varieties. I could not get the focus right yesterday to save my life. I was using a circular polarizer for the first time. I hope that had a lot to do with it.
