I'm going to try firing up the blog again for 2016, especially the nature/landscape side of things. It is in desperate need of a redesign so I will be working on that while shooting for KSTV. Unfortunately the slideshows on older posts have been disabled by flickr. You can find all of my work in my gallery.

Kaleidoscope Photoshop Plug-In

These images were created from this photo:

I was browsing through some plug-ins for Photoshop when I ran across a kaleidoscope program.
Kaleidoscope 2.1

I always loved kaleidoscopes as a child, so I installed it and gave it a try. I couldn't believe how easy it was to create the gorgeous patterns. By adjusting the sliders and settings, the possibilities are virtually endless. Here is the original photo I used on my first attempt:

Here are three of the images I was able to create using the plug-in:

Photoshop Friday-Spring Bride II

With all of the spring and summer weddings coming up, I thought it would be nice to switch gears a little bit and go from babies to brides. I added this beautiful bride to one of my spring images taken at the Lexington Cemetery.

Arte Y Pico Award!

A friend from over at 2Peas awarded me the Arte Y Pico. You can read her post here:
http://norco5-thewayiseeit.blogspot.com/ I did some searching and found some rules associated with this award:
There are 5 rules attached to this and they are :-1. You have to pick 5 blogs that you consider deserve this award for their creativity, design, interesting material, and also contributes to the blogging community, no matter what language.2. Each award has to have the name of the author and also a link to his/her blog to be visited by everyone.3. Each award winner has to show the award and put the name and link to the blog that has given her/him the award itself.4. The Award winner and the one who has given the prize have to show the link of "Arte Y Pico" blog, so everyone will know the origin of this award.5. To show these rules.

So...I have too many favorites, but here are 5 blogs that inspire me:

I just opened my mail and received this message:

Attached is your award for the occasion to display on your blog if you wish ;-)
Happy blogging!

How exciting! Thank you Fuelmyblog!

Vintage Cameras-Treasures from the past

Our Grandmother passed away recently. We found a stash of vintage photography equipment while cleaning out her home. This is a Polaroid Land Camera. The warranty card is even there as well as the flash and other package enclosures. Do you think the warranty is still good? =)

This one is a neat little camera. It is very lightweight and is almost like a toy. It is a bright teal blue color.

This is a Pentax camera. It also came with a 55mm 1:2 lens. With and adapter I can use this on my K100d!

Can you imagine lugging this flash around? The Imperial camera is the one I am most excited about. It will be perfect for TTV (through the viewfinder) images. I can't wait to give it a try.

Macro Monday

My friend Kaz from over at 2Peas was kind enough to RAK me some macro filters (Thanks Kaz!). This is my first real play with them. I wasn't too worried about composition since I had a hard enough time getting anything in focus. I finally switched to manual focus with better results. The filters will take some getting used to, but I think they will be fun playing with.

Take time to stop and smell the flowers...

I will be the gladdest thing under the sun!
I will touch a hundred flowers
And not pick one.

Getting Lucky in Kentucky...

The turtles are anyway. =) There are so many of these guys at The Lexington Cemetery this year. I have never seen so many there before. I saw 14 there on this day.

I have been at the cemetery every spare moment I can steal away. It is so beautiful, but a little
crowded this time of year. I won't say exactly how many photos I have taken in the past week, but my guess is you will be seeing nature shots for quite awhile.

Photoshop Friday-Spring Bride

So it is a little late. =)

I thought my Spring scene could use a Spring bride. I found a stock image of a bride and added her to my bridge. I might have to try this with one of my own photos!

Spring Animals

Golden Turtle

I have been out stalking the spring flowers, but sometimes I run across a little friend. I thought I would share some of my finds here. These were all taken at either the Lexington Cemetery or UK Arboretum.

More tulips...

I can't get enough of these tulips.
For the locals, here is the cemetery watch report. =) The tulips survived the frost quite well. Some were a little bent over and a few that had opened were a little discolored, but overall no harm done. The ones that were in full bloom in other parts of the cemetery took the hardest hit. Luckily they are a little late blooming so most of the tulips were unharmed. By next week they will be peaking and amazing! The cherry blossoms are just about finished. "Cherry Blossom Way" still has blossoms, but they are much paler in color now.

I took the little ones to the cemetery this morning and then had a picnic lunch at the UK Arboretum. I am very lucky to have so many beautiful places within 15 minutes of my home!

I have shot 100's of images in the past week or so. I am sure you will see many of them so be patient with me. ;) I am just happy to be out shooting again. I guess I just needed a burst of color to get me going.

Spring Glory

Here are a few more from The Lexington Cemetery. I will be shooting more this week if the wet weather ever clears out.

I added a slight Orton Effect to this one.
