I'm going to try firing up the blog again for 2016, especially the nature/landscape side of things. It is in desperate need of a redesign so I will be working on that while shooting for KSTV. Unfortunately the slideshows on older posts have been disabled by flickr. You can find all of my work in my gallery.

Black Swallowtail Butterfly

We have had a lot of fun and excitement around our house with all of the butterflies emerging. Our neighbor left on a vacation and left us with 5 monarchs in the chrysalis, a swallowtail chrysalis and another swallowtail caterpillar. Three of the monarchs and one swallowtail emerged at my daughter' school, much to the delight of her classmates. The entire second grade got to help release them a few days later. This swallowtail emerged while I was helping my youngest daughter in another room. We were watching it, left for a few minutes and came back to find a beautiful black swallowtail! We have another one that should emerge next weekend.

How lucky you are to have all those chysali (would that be the proper plural?) Anyway, how fun to be able to see all those butterflies emerging. I love the color combo on the black swallowtail in particular.
