I'm going to try firing up the blog again for 2016, especially the nature/landscape side of things. It is in desperate need of a redesign so I will be working on that while shooting for KSTV. Unfortunately the slideshows on older posts have been disabled by flickr. You can find all of my work in my gallery.

Zebra Swallowtail

We stopped in at the Arboretum yesterday afternoon between storms. We decided to take one more loop around and found this guy. Zebra swallowtails are beautiful, but I have only had a couple of opportunities to shoot them. I was thrilled to find this guy and thankful he took the time to pose for me. =)

Pale in Comparison

I am typically drawn to bold color like the sunflowers, but sometimes paler flowers like these catch my eye for their softness and more subtle beauty.

I like the last one because I love finding these hearts in nature. =)

Awards-Thank you!

I received a couple of Blog Awards recently, and even though I haven't had time to post about them, I wanted those responsible to know how much I appreciate their kind words and the awards. The first is the Lemonade Award:

The Lemonade Award is given to people who have shown great attitude or gratitude.

Here are the rules....

1. Put the logo on your blog or post.
2. Nominate at least 5 - 10 blogs that show great Gratitude and/or Attitude.
3. Be sure to list and link your nominees within your post.
4. Tell them they have received this award by leaving a comment on their blog.
5. Nominate your favorites and link to your post.

The second award is the Premio Meme award:

I will think about the seven facts I am supposed to share and get back to this later.

Thank you for the awards and for recognizing my blog. I always appreciate your visits and comments. I will pick my recipients shortly. =)

Knoxville, Tennessee

Had a great time visiting with friends in Knoxville, Tennessee for Nick's 40th birthday party. I probably drank a little too much Tennessee Whiskey, but when in Rome right? =) It is a beautiful part of the country if you have never visited. This first shot was taken from the van as we went down the interstate. Shooting at 70 miles an hour isn't the best of circumstances, but I wanted a shot of the gorgeous view. I guess these are the Appalachian Mountains and probably part of the Great Smoky Mountain range.

We also visited World's Fair Park in downtown Knoxville. This is the Sunsphere:

The park also features the East Tennessee Veteran's Memorial:

And one more of the rolling hills:

Free Digi Kits!

This great free digi template was offered as part of Jessica Sprague's birthday bash (those are three of my cuties on the first day we set up the pool this year). It got me searching for more great summer freebies. I ran across this cute set offered by Memory Makers magazine:

Memory Makers Summer Kit

I also found a great blog by Summer Driggs. She offers many beautiful free digi kits for personal use. Donations are always appreciated though. =) Commercial licenses are also available for purchase.

There are some cute Summer themed freebies offered over at Scrappin' & Stuff with Sooze

Gotta' love freebies.

Enjoy!
